Meet the Staff
Bianca Vazquez, Program Director –Bianca Vazquez has been at the Steinbruck Center since August of 2011 and serves as the Program Director. In 2011, Bianca graduated with an interdisciplinary major in Sociology and Political Science from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, MD. During her time at Loyola, Bianca was active in Spring Break Outreach, Loyola’s Alternative Break Program. She participated in trips to Baltimore, MD, Biloxi, MS, and Pine Ridge Reservation, SD where she was exposed to the power of alternative breaks and allowing marginalized communities to become her teachers. She co-chaired the Alternative Break program for two years and after graduation worked full time in Loyola’s Center for Community Service and Justice to coordinate ten trips for over one hundred students.
Bianca came to the Steinbruck Center as a Lutheran Volunteer Corps member and served for two years before transitioning to a permanent staff position. She is committed to facilitating transformative service and educational experiences for groups and reimagining what volunteering and community engagement can look like.
Experiential Learning Coordinator, Sarah Johnson-
Sarah joined the Steinbruck Center team in September of 2015. Originally from Bath, Michigan, Sarah is a 2012 graduate of Central Michigan University, where she served as a board member and staffer for the Alternative Breaks program. After receiving her degree, Sarah spent a year as an AmeriCorps *VISTA where her work was focused on poverty awareness, capacity building, community partnerships, and service learning. Before coming to the Steinbruck Center, she completed a non-profit fellowship with Break Away, the national alternative breaks non-profit, in Atlanta, Georgia. Sarah enjoys baking, playing trivia, and watching The West Wing, preferably all at the same time.
