Workshops & Trainings

The Steinbruck Center offers a variety of volunteer and educational opportunities for groups of all types. We focus on homelessness and urban poverty in the context of a gentrifying neighborhood and can provide anywhere from a half day up to two weeks of programming. Below are some examples of our curriculum. Please let us know if you are interested in bringing a group to participate in any of these opportunities, whether you are staying here or not!

Walking Tour of the Logan Circle Neighborhood

Explore the neighborhood while learning about the ways the community has worked together during hard times.

Workshop: Poverty and Homelessness in DC

Learn about poverty in DC and the reasons people often become homeless in this area. They aren’t what you think!

Workshop: Charity vs Justice

Discuss the difference between charity and justice then think through ways to work for justice in your home town.

Workshop: Structural Racism

Review racism with a wider lens that looks at more than just interpersonal situations.

Gain some insight into poverty and all the work it takes just to put food on the table.
